1st wedding function for 2011 ..and many more to come

Most of us are probably concerned as each birthday passes us by acknowledging a year older or "younger", as many prefer to refer to their birthdays.

However, the days seem to pass pretty quickly these days without much notice. The situation becomes more prominent when the girl behind the counter starts calling "uncle" and start realising that it's not maturity she is referring to but getting old.

Similarly, weddings of younger relatives and friends highlights the reality of us getting older and perhaps like the saying goes, still "young at heart". This was the situation I faced during the wedding of a niece recently as I can still recall vividly the young little girl tagging along with the parents and had now a grown-up.

It is also events like this, relatives and old friends meet-up once again to renew acquaintance which on normal days does not permit due to work or other matters. Anyway, take it positively since age is catchigng up and meeting with the folks are great for reminiscing the good old days.

The garden umbrella adds a little resort touch to the home but could not stop the strong winds and rains which poured practically the whole evening before the wedding day.

The storm which fell over the East Coast states do at times look threatening to the evening buffet dinner organised for friends and relatives on this auspicious event. As the guests starts arriving, the earlier storm had a breather with light showers while the BBQ pits had by now ready for the marinated chicken wings and fishes.

The brightly litted house with flashing lights and lanterns further adds an air of festivity to the house with free flowing beers amidst the laughter among the crowd.

It's 12 midnight when the hair combing ceremony starts though surprise that this traditional Chinese custom is very much intact while the Baba and Nyonya version is more complex

The decorated antique cars add further romantic touch to the evening pre-wedding dinner where some could not resist clicking away their cameras. The cars may not really be road worthy condition but it's presence within the house compound is sufficient to add color.

Artificial flowers strung across the wooden beams of the porch gives a feel of romance.

Lanterns and thin linens strung along the porch simply accentuates the theme of the wedding.
