Oh ... when the bands come marching in .....

It was a month ago, a hotelier friend reminded me of the annual event,  Kuala Lumpur World Marching Band (KLWMBC) taking place in December 2009 and had totally forgotten till my youngest son saw it in the papers and pleading me to witness the event as he had missed it last year.

The late evening skies started opening up and I had thought there goes another dissapointment for this marching band enthusiast!

"Sorry kid, we have to call off the plans!" I said and the grief stricken face is all I see as he kept looking out of the window waiting for the rain to stop.

It did stop and here somes another plea, "can we go now dad?" A resounding yes was my answer.

As we finished our early dinner and was about to leave, it started pouring but we were already on our way to watch the street parade segment of the KLWMBC at Pavilion, Jalan Bukit Bintang.

I guess the almighty must have heard his pleas for the rain to stop and the street parade is on.

He was smiling to the brim at the end of the event that the next request was for him to witness the subsequent proceedings of the event running from 12th to 20th December. The skies had stayed clear for the whole event and started to pour again after the event ended and was wondering if the "bomohs" had a role in this.

I had to leave for JB but lucky my eldest brother was around to chauffer him to Stadium Bolasepak Kuala Lumpur, Cheras for the 2 days of show competition.

Themed One Malaysia, One Heart, One Sound, One World this year's event promises to be equally exciting with 20 teams vying for the competition title.

"The Thai and Indonesian band is good, VI band performed well ......" as he went on with his commentary during the telephone conversation, of the competition he had witnessed.

He is all geared up for the finals on 19 December where the winner will be the representative at the World Marching Band competition. I had promised him that I will chauffer him there this time while he managed to persuade his uncle to come along again.

Then again, a friend called me up informing him that he has 2 passes for the closing ceremony and finals which is intended for me. I was equally excited now that I am able to bring my son to witness the finals.

So come tomorrow, all ready for the KLWMBC finals at Stadium Bolasepak Kuala Lumpur, Cheras!
