A & EM Hotel

This vibrant city of Ho Chi Minh (Saigon), Vietnam had seen increased tourist arrivals each year and would continue to attract many more visitors for leisure as well as business. More hotels are sprouting within District 1 and as it is now, it would be full during weekends.

We faced this situation when we were denied of rooms in the comfortable Vien Dong Hotel due to a full occupancy situation on Friday where we finally booked ourselves into A & EM Hotel. This hotel belongs to the hotel group of the same name and had since made a major headway in providing discerning travelers accommodation in the city.

There are 2 wings i.e. old wing and a new wing which re-affirms the demand for rooms in HCM City. I was assigned to a room in the old wing which requires me to climb a flight of stairs before reaching the lift on the mezzanine floor.

What greeted me when the lift doors open was the picture above, I thought I had got off on a floor which had housed the karaoke. I finally saw the room number on the door and convinced that I am on the right floor and room.

With key cards operated doors, it's really impressive putting aside the decor of the external walls outisde the room. The moment I got into the room, the above picture greeted me and yet again, i had thought it was a karaoke room.

Just a left look, I could understand that the concept was more of a boutique concept Twin Room selling at USD60 per night with buffet breakfast, PC connected to internet (free) and WIFI services readily available in all rooms.

The Queen size bed is comfortable and great for a good rest. The rooms came with extra pillows so we don't really need to ask the housekeeping. Mini bar and in-room safe completes the amenities in the room.

The bathroom is slightly elaborate with gold plated shower heads, mirrors etc. on top of the little bath tub.

The location in Thai Van Lung is simply excellent considering it is 5 minutes walk to the entertainment centre of Dong Khoi street and many other international gourmet restaurants including halal restaurants. The easily accessible taxis and road networks makes this an ideal location for a decent stay.
