Coffee Berry, Kuala Lumpur

What use to be the favorite Malaysian past time of "lepaking" at the kopitiam during the past has seen a revival with a slightly different touch and mixed between the old and new. Thanks to the mushrooming of kopitiams across the country, there is not much variety in the offerings with what is left is the taste to make you want more.

With the ever increasing numbers of franchise outlets opening in stiff competition, the taste for Asian cuisine offered by these kopitiams seem to have lost it's taste along the way. Given that the kitchen are manned by foreigners mainly from Myanmar and perhaps cooking in large quantities to meet the demand, quality had been sacrificed for the sake of business growth.

I had lost apetite for kopitiam servings till a friend invited me for his new venture Coffee Berry in Taman Tayton, Cheras, Kuala Lumpur. It is just 2 days old and are still in it's effort to improve waiter service  efficiency when I had the opportunity to savour the taste of kopitiam offerings with a wide range of ala carte to suit everyone's taste buds. Serving a range of western and local delicacies, this cafe serves tasty authentic kopitiam servings at the right price minus the many Myanmarese, Banglas, Indons serving you.

The interior deco is minimalist with beverage bar donning a fireplace while dining being kept simple yet accentuates a cozy and family kopitiam style dining.

Located at the corner lot in Taman Taynton, Cheras, Kuala Lumpur facing the Cheras-Kajang highway, this kopitiam is a not to be missed.

if you come from Kajang, turn left into Taman Taynton. Immediately turn left again and go straight for about 40 metres from the junction, you will see Coffee Berry on your left.

Bon apetit!
